Gabbi Sonntag, t-LMHC

Thank you for your interest in learning more about my approach to therapy. My name is Gabbi, and I am a temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor (t-LMHC).  I have experience working with high-needs adolescents and their families, and I offer individual and family therapy to children (ages 10 and up), teens, and adults.  I am committed to providing a welcoming, supportive environment for people from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of concerns.

My practice is centered on meeting clients where they are and collaborating to identify goals and pathways for growth, whether that involves developing coping strategies, managing stress, improving communication, exploring identity and values, processing trauma, or navigating life transitions. I believe therapy should be a space where clients feel comfortable addressing whatever is most important to them.

I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand View University in 2024 and started my clinical career working in the residential setting with teenagers and their families.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused approaches, Mindfulness, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am dedicated to ongoing professional development and regularly incorporate new interventions to best meet the needs of my clients. 

 

Outside of the office you can find me reading, starting (and hopefully finishing!) craft projects, spending time out and about, trying new restaurants, tending to my houseplants, enjoying nature, and gabbing with those I love.
